Love sometimes ....

Love sometimes wants to do us a great favour; hold us upside down and shake all the nonsense out. ~ Hafiz

The Age of God!

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.

The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.

The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?

“He replied, “I had lunch with God.” But before his mother could respond, he added, “You know what? God’s got the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”

Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked,” Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?”

He replied, “I ate Twinkies in the park with God.” However, before his son responded, he added,” You know, he’s much younger than I expected.”

The Two Wolves

One evening, a Cherokee elder told his grandson about the battle that goes on inside people’s heads.
He said, “My son, the battle is between the two ‘wolves’ that live inside us all.
One is unhappiness. It is fear, worry, anger, jealousy, sorrow, self-pity, resentment, and inferiority. The other is happiness. It is joy, love, hope, serenity, kindness, generosity, truth, and compassion.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied:
“The one you feed”.

The only luxury I care about is, "FREEDOM"!

My favorite word has got to be "FREEDOM"!!! And it has sooo many connotations...

Freedom from family
Freedom from children
Freedom from partners/mates
Freedom from friends
Freedom from jobs
Freedom from bosses
Freedom from deadlines
Freedom from debt
Freedom from agenda
Freedom from "shoulds"
Freedom from "have tos"
Freedom from obligations
Freedom of thought
Freedom of speech
Freedom of action
Freedom of "pause"
Freedom of silence
Freedom of non-action
Freedom of "craziness"...
Freedom to love
Freedom of not to love
Freedom to drink
Freedom of not to drink
Freedom to wear
Freedom of not to wear
Freedom of how to look
Freedom of how not to look
And mannnny more... (Phew!! I guess, you get the point!) ;)

I just had an epiphany, "real freedom" is all about:

Freeing yourself from the past and its tenuous hold on your today!
Freeing yourself from pain and it clouding your perspective about your life, today!
Freeing yourself from judgments that make you look at yourself harshly!
Freeing yourself from experiences that make you doubt and second guess your decisions, today!
Freeing yourself from benchmarks that no longer hold true about you in the "now"!
Freeing yourself from guilts of the by gones!
Freeing yourself from self-imposed labels of good and bad; right and wrong; fat and thin; success and failure; ugly and beautiful...

Freedom is all about me accepting and loving myself for all that I have been and have become and am becoming. It means, being free to choose, "freedom over bondage" or "bondage over freedom"; it's about "FEEEEEEELING" free... :)

I want...

I want to be a part of your world
only a part, and not the whole
I want to keep this on the edge,
where this relationship has no name.
I want to share stolen moments
from ambitious dreams and busy schedules
I want to share a common space
not a roof.
I want us to share experiences not merely time.

I want to be your companion
in the talkative silences.

I want to be with you
without artifice
without agenda
without dependence
without financial ties…

I want no one to decide the rules
except the ones we make…

And want you…to return the favour..

(This poem was shared by Neha Toteja on her FB wall. And it touched so many chords in me... I just had to share it and save it here... )

Signs

I used to wait for a sign, she said,
before I did anything.  Then one
night I had a dream and
an angel in black tights
came to me and
said, You can start any time now
and then I
said is this a sign? and the
angel started laughing and I woke up.
Now, I think the whole world is filled with signs, but if there's no laughter, I know they're not for me.

Every Child Has Known God...

Every child has known God,
Not the God of names,
Not the God of don'ts,
Not the God who ever does anything weird,
But the God who knows only fours words, and keeps repeating them, saying...
"Come dance with me... come dance with me..."

~ Hafiz

(Another personal favorite!!)

Anywhere I go, I meet myself

Today I experienced the truth behind these words... :) (A MUST remember!!!)

through the streets, Trying to find you."

Love Stories...

The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.

Lovers don't finally meet somewhere,
they're in each other all along.

(Wow! Just how beautiful is that...) :)

No More Leaving ~ Hafiz

At
Some point
Your relationship
With God
Will
Become like this:

Next time you meet Him in the forest
Or on a crowded city street
There won't be anymore
"Leaving."

That is,
God will climb into
Your pocket.
You will simply just take
Yourself
Along!

(The true essence of prayer... be one with God.... or maybe... BE God... )

I Have Learned So Much ~ Hafiz

I
Have
Learned
So much from God
That I can no longer
Call
Myself
A Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Jew.

The Truth has shared so much of Itself
With me
That I can no longer call myself
A man, a woman, an angel,
Or even a pure Soul.

Love has
Befriended Hafiz so completely
It has turned to ash
And freed
Me
Of every concept and image
my mind has ever known.

Growing Pains... :)

Dark room, Cluedo, Monopoly, Uno, Plot 4, 3-2-5, Court Piece, hop scotch, midnight snacks, stories and tales, looooong letters, parting gifts, hide 'n' seek, building that "wildlife sanctuary" and those "guards" in woolen hats (lol) and getting Dadi Ma to "inaugurate it", afternoon snacks, stealing matthi-achaar and Orange Rasna from Nani Ma's "impossible-to-reach" snack cupboards, playing dress-up, endless giggling and teasing over boys/ girls and latest crushes, bullying the younger ones and making them run errands, fabulous summer vacations... Boy!!! What a fabulous childhood!!! :D

The Sun Never Says...

Even after all this time

The sun never says to the earth,
"You owe Me."

Look what happens with
A love like that,
It lights the Whole Sky.

~ Hafiz

I love how beautifully Hafiz has captured the essence of “unconditional love” and its magic…

Weird or Gifted!!

Here's a story from some good fun, weird action that happened today... This is more for me so that I can REMEMBER how gifted I am!!!! ;)

Okay, now that’s twice in a row!! Huh, that’s weird.

On Friday, a friend emailed someones CV aksing me to help this person find a job. Since this girl is looking for contractual work I started to go through a mental list of people I could forward her resume` to.

In that, I thought of a guy who runs his company and someone I had been breifly in touch with, over 8 months ago, for a similar position for myself. Well, that did not work out and I was wondering if I should contact him and forward this girl’s resume and if yes then how and so on.

These thoughts just flitted across my mind, casually. This was on Saturday, i.e. yesterday.

Earlier this evening (Sunday) I received a text from this gentleman saying that he was in town, (he lives in a different city) and that he would like to catch up to see if we could work something out and if not then we’ll just enjoy some coffee and a good conversation!!!!

My jaw dropped!!! Really, I’m ALWAYS blown when these things happen! Of course I responded with a yes immediately!!!

And now Jeannette's post… TOO WEIRD!!!

Maybe we all have imaginary demons... that are just that, imaginary... :)

I just finished watching, “A Beautiful Mind”. The beauty of John F. Nash’s mind is breath taking!!
As I watched John’s life and struggle, I realised that just like Charles, Marcee and Parcher, John’s delusions, that he’s fighting all his life, we all too have our owns delusions. Let’s call them demons!! Winking smile
These demons come in the form of jealousy, feelings of inadequacy, lack of self-acceptance, fear, guilt, shame and many others. Their role, just like John’s delusions, seems to be to scare us and delude us that we are incapable of living beautiful lives.
And maybe success is only possible if we look them in the eye and tell them, “You are not real!!!”. And well, battle them…
We all have a beautiful mind that can help us live beautiful lives. A mind that can help us realize, “that it’s only in the mysterious equations of love, that any logical reasons can be found.”

Gaga over Lady Gaga…

I watched this 3 part interview of Lady Gaga’s. I must confess, before this, all I knew about her was her name, ‘coz I don’t really dig her kind of music.
Anyway, the current status of my feelings for the lady… she ROCKS!
Go ahead, take a look…
Part 1/3
These lines stood out…
  1. “Fame for me is not external it’s internal, so I’ve been famous for a long time”
  2. “I rise and I close…”
  3. “I don’t care what people think of ME, I care what they think of themselves”
  4. "Music is my life; the fame is inside of me; I am going to make a number one record with number one hits.' And it's not yet; it's a lie. You're saying a lie, over and over again. And then one day, the lie is true."
Part 2/3

Part 3/3
What really struck me is that she’s not a “freak”, as her hair, make up and attire make her look, but a rather evolved person with very clear thinking. And she’s only 23 years!!
I’m not sure I’m going to follow her music, but she certainly has me thinking she’s cool!!!
Hope to see her “make a number one record with number one hits”.
